Celeste uses Steam Cloud, so your .celeste slot files sync across machines. If a cloud and local save conflict, keep the newer one — losing a slot means losing all berries and deaths for that file.

Save problems & fixes
Celeste save won’t load or says it’s corrupt
Close the game fully, then look for an automatic backup next to the save (a .bak or numbered copy) and copy it over the broken file. On Steam, also right-click the game → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files.
My Celeste save is missing or the folder is empty
You are usually in the wrong sub-folder — open the numbered profile/Steam-ID folder inside the path above, not its parent. If still empty, cloud sync may not have finished before the game overwrote the local copy; reconnect and let the cloud sync complete before launching.
Celeste progress rolled back after a cloud sync
When Steam reports a save conflict, keep the version with the LATER timestamp — choosing the older cloud copy overwrites newer local progress, the most common cause of lost hours. If unsure, back up the local folder first, then let the cloud sync.
