Save Transfer Helper: move your game save anywhere

1. On the old PC, open the save folder: {PATH}
2. Copy the whole folder to a USB stick or cloud drive (OneDrive/Google Drive). Copy the entire folder, not just loose files.
3. On the new PC, install {GAME} and launch it once, then fully quit it — this creates the empty save folder in the same location.
4. Paste your copied folder into that same path on the new PC, overwriting the empty files when asked.
5. Launch {GAME}; your progress should load. If the game uses Steam Cloud, see the Steam Cloud route to avoid the cloud overwriting your copy.

Always copy with the game closed on both machines, or the save can be written over when you quit.

1. Make sure Steam Cloud is enabled: right-click {GAME} in your Steam library → Properties → General → tick "Keep games saves in the Steam Cloud".
2. Fully close {GAME}, then close Steam from the system tray (so it syncs on next launch).
3. Re-open Steam — it uploads your latest local save from {PATH} to the cloud.
4. On the other PC, open Steam and launch {GAME}; Steam downloads the cloud save before the game starts.
5. If you see a "Cloud Sync Conflict" box, pick the device with the most recent playtime — the other save is discarded, so back it up first.

Steam Cloud only syncs files the developer registered for cloud. If your local {PATH} save is newer but Steam shows an old one, let Steam finish syncing before you play.

1. If {GAME} supports Steam Cloud, just enable Cloud on both devices and launch — the Deck pulls the save automatically. No file copying needed.
2. If there is no Cloud support, put the Deck in Desktop Mode (hold power → Switch to Desktop).
3. Use the Dolphin file manager (or a USB drive) to copy your PC save from {PATH} into the matching compatdata path on the Deck.
4. The Deck stores Windows-game saves under ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/<AppID>/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/ — mirror the sub-path shown above inside there.
5. Launch {GAME} on the Deck to confirm the save loads.

Finding the right AppID: it's the number in the game's Steam store URL. Copy with the game closed on both sides.

1. On PlayStation: with PS Plus active, go to Settings → Saved Data → upload the {GAME} save to cloud, then download it on the other console.
2. On Xbox: saves sync to your Microsoft account automatically — just sign in on the other Xbox and launch {GAME}.
3. To move a console save to PC (or back), the save must go through that platform's cloud — there is no direct file access on console.
4. Cross-save between console and PC only works if {GAME} itself offers an in-game cross-save/account link (check the game's settings menu).

Console save files are encrypted and tied to your account — you cannot copy them as raw files like on PC.

No. Copying your own single-player save between your own devices is normal and supported. Bans are about multiplayer cheating, not moving a save folder.

Copy the whole save folder. Many games split progress, settings and metadata across several files, and a lone .sav often won't load without its companions.

Almost always Steam Cloud (or a console cloud) syncing an older save over your copy. Close the game, let the cloud finish syncing, and only then play — or back up your folder first.

Only if the game offers cross-save or cloud account linking. Console saves are encrypted and account-locked, so you can't drag raw files from PC onto a console.
