Cloud saves
Only offline characters exist as local .d2s files you can back up. Online Battle.net characters are cloud/server-side and can't be copied or edited locally — that's Blizzard's anti-cheat design. Back up the whole Saved Games\Diablo II Resurrected folder for your offline heroes.
How to open the save folder
- Press Win + R to open the Run box.
- Type %userprofile%\Saved Games\Diablo II Resurrected and press Enter.
- Copy the .d2s files (and SharedStashSoftCoreV2.d2i) somewhere safe.
- To restore, paste them back into the same Saved Games\Diablo II Resurrected folder.
Save problems & fixes
Diablo 2 Resurrected offline character disappeared
Check %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Diablo II Resurrected for the .d2s file; if it's gone, restore your backup there. Online characters can't be recovered locally — contact Blizzard support.
Restored .d2s won't load
The file must sit directly in Saved Games\Diablo II Resurrected (not a subfolder), and Hardcore/Softcore stashes are separate — keep the matching .d2i shared-stash file alongside it.
