V Rising Save File Location

Here's exactly where V Rising keeps your world and castle on PC, how to open the folder, and how to back up a save before a patch wipes progress.

Save file locations

Windows (Steam) — single-player
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRising\Saves\v4

Full path: C:\Users\<YourName>\AppData\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRising\Saves\v4\ . Each world has its own subfolder. Copy — do not move — the files, or the game can no longer load them.

Windows (Steam) — dedicated server
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRisingServer\Saves\v4

A locally hosted dedicated server keeps its worlds under the separate VRisingServer folder, not VRising.

PlayStation 5 / PS4
Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Saved Data

Console saves are sealed and can't be copied as raw files. Back them up to PS Plus cloud or a USB drive from this menu.

Cloud saves

On PC, V Rising uses Steam Cloud for single-player worlds, so they sync across machines with the same account. Always copy (never move) the world folder — V Rising will refuse to load saves that were moved out of the Saves folder.

How to open the save folder

  1. Press Win + R to open the Run box.
  2. Type %userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow and press Enter.
  3. Open Stunlock Studios > VRising > Saves > v4, then your world's subfolder.
  4. Copy the whole save folder somewhere safe before editing, modding, or moving PCs.

FAQ

Where is the V Rising save file on PC?

Single-player saves are at C:\Users\<YourName>\AppData\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRising\Saves\v4. Press Win+R, type %userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow, then open Stunlock Studios\VRising\Saves.

Where are V Rising dedicated server saves?

A local dedicated server stores worlds under the separate VRisingServer folder: AppData\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRisingServer\Saves\v4, not the VRising folder.

How do I back up my V Rising save?

Copy (do not move) your world's subfolder from Saves\v4 to a safe location, then paste it back to restore. Moving the originals stops the game from loading them.
