Cloud saves
Dragon Age: Origins has no built-in cloud sync on most PC releases — the files in Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Characters are your only copy, so back them up manually before reinstalling or moving PCs.
How to open the save folder
- Press Win + R to open the Run box.
- Type %userprofile%\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age and press Enter.
- Open Characters, then your character's folder, then Saves.
- Copy the character folder (or its .das saves) somewhere safe before reinstalling.

Dragon Age: Origins save won't load or is corrupted
Restore a backed-up .das file into the matching Characters\<Name>\Saves folder. Origins keeps multiple save slots per character, so an earlier slot in the same folder often still loads.
Dragon Age: Origins saves disappeared
Check you're looking in Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Characters (not the game install folder), on the same Windows user. If you moved PCs, copy the whole Characters folder over — there is no cloud copy to fall back on.
