Terraria Save File Location
Here's exactly where Terraria stores your players and worlds on every platform, how to open the folder, and how to back them up.
Save file locations
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Terraria
Full path: C:\Users\<YourName>\Documents\My Games\Terraria\ . Characters are in the Players folder (.plr files); maps are in the Worlds folder (.wld files).
~/Library/Application Support/Terraria
In Finder use Go > Go to Folder and paste the path. Contains Players and Worlds folders.
Internal storage/Android/data/com.and.games505.TerrariaPaid/files
Use a file manager to browse to the Terraria data folder for player and world files.
Files app > On My iPhone > Terraria
Access saves through the Files app under the Terraria folder.
Cloud saves
On PC through Steam, Terraria can use Steam Cloud for both characters and worlds. If a cloud and local save conflict after offline play, choose the newer copy when prompted so you don't lose a world.
How to open the save folder
- Press Win + R to open the Run box.
- Type %userprofile%\Documents and press Enter.
- Open My Games > Terraria, then the Players or Worlds folder.
- Copy the whole save folder somewhere safe before editing, modding, or moving PCs.
