Vampire Survivors Save File Location
Here's exactly where Vampire Survivors keeps your unlocks and progress on PC, how to open the folder, and how to back up before you reset or move machines.
Save file locations
%APPDATA%\Vampire_Survivors\saves
Full path: C:\Users\<YourName>\AppData\Roaming\Vampire_Survivors\saves . The SaveData file is JSON protected by a SHA-256 checksum, so hand-edited saves can be rejected as invalid.
%APPDATA%\Vampire_Survivors_EGS\<UserID>
Epic keeps a separate folder (Vampire_Survivors_EGS), so Steam and Epic progress never mix automatically.
System save-data menu
Console saves are sealed and sync to the platform cloud; there is no raw file you can copy. Back up via the console's own cloud or storage menu.
Cloud saves
On PC the game uses Steam Cloud (or Epic cloud), so your saves folder syncs across machines on the same account. Close Vampire Survivors fully before swapping a save file, or the cloud may overwrite your backup with the older copy on next launch.
How to open the save folder
- Press Win + R to open the Run box.
- Type %appdata% and press Enter.
- Open the Vampire_Survivors folder (or Vampire_Survivors_EGS on Epic), then the saves folder.
- Copy the whole saves folder somewhere safe before resetting progress or moving PCs.
FAQ
Where is the Vampire Survivors save file on PC?
At C:\Users\<YourName>\AppData\Roaming\Vampire_Survivors\saves. Press Win+R, type %appdata%, then open Vampire_Survivors and the saves folder.
Why won't my edited save load?
The SaveData file is JSON with a SHA-256 checksum. If the checksum no longer matches the contents the game rejects the save, so manual edits often fail unless you recalculate the hash.
Do Steam and Epic share the same save?
No. Each store keeps its own folder (Vampire_Survivors vs Vampire_Survivors_EGS), so progress does not transfer between them automatically.
