On PC, Elden Ring uses Steam Cloud, so your ER0000.sl2 save syncs across machines when you log in with the same Steam account. If Steam Cloud and a local save conflict (for example after playing offline), Steam asks which version to keep — choose carefully, because picking the wrong one can overwrite hours of progress.
How to open the save folder
- Press Win + R to open the Run box.
- Type %appdata% and press Enter.
- Open the EldenRing folder.
- Open the folder named with a long number — that's your Steam ID.
