The Sims 4 Save File Location

Here's exactly where The Sims 4 keeps your saves on every platform, how to open the folder, and how to back them up before mods or updates.

Save file locations

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves

Full path: C:\Users\<YourName>\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves\ . Save files are named Slot_*.save with numbered backups (.ver0, .ver1, etc.).

macOS
~/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/saves

In Finder use Go > Go to Folder and paste the path.

PlayStation 5 / PS4
Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Saved Data

Console saves are sealed and can't be copied as raw files. Back them up to PS Plus cloud or a USB drive from this menu.

Xbox Series X|S / Xbox One
My games & apps > <Game> > Manage game > Saved data

Xbox saves sync automatically to the cloud with your Microsoft account; there is no user-accessible save file on disk.

Cloud saves

On PC, The Sims 4 saves live locally and are not automatically synced to the cloud, so back them up manually before installing mods or updates. Corrupt saves are common after patches, which is why keeping copies matters.

How to open the save folder

  1. Press Win + R to open the Run box.
  2. Type %userprofile%\Documents and press Enter.
  3. Open Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves.
  4. Copy the whole save folder somewhere safe before editing, modding, or moving PCs.
