Xbox saves sync automatically to the cloud with your Microsoft account; there is no user-accessible save file on disk.
Cloud saves
The original Mass Effect 2 has no cloud sync — the *.pcsav files in Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 2\Save are the only copy, so back them up before reinstalling. The Legendary Edition syncs through Steam Cloud / EA app cloud.
How to open the save folder
- Press Win + R to open the Run box.
- Type %userprofile%\Documents\BioWare and press Enter.
- Open Mass Effect 2, then Save (or Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Save\ME2 for the remaster).
- Copy the *.pcsav files somewhere safe — especially your last save if you plan to import into Mass Effect 3.
Save problems & fixes
Mass Effect 2 saves are missing after reinstall
Reinstalling doesn't delete the Documents\BioWare folder, so check the same Windows user and OneDrive\Documents. If the game created a fallback folder it may be at C:\BioWare\Mass Effect 2\Save.
Mass Effect 2 won't load a save
Copy the *.pcsav into a fresh Save folder, disable mods, and make sure the file isn't set read-only (right-click › Properties › uncheck Read-only).
