How to Transfer Your Dune: Awakening Save to a New PC
Switching computers? Dune: Awakening keeps your progress on Funcom's servers — here's what actually happens to your survivor and what (little) you may want to copy.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\DuneSandbox\Saved
You don't need to copy a save file. Dune: Awakening is an online survival MMO — your character, base and inventory live on Funcom's servers. Just install the game on the new PC and log in with the same account.
Where the files live: see the full Dune: Awakening save file location guide for every platform path (PS5, Xbox, Steam Cloud).
How to transfer your Dune: Awakening save to a new PC
- On the new PC, install Dune: Awakening from Steam.
- Launch it and log in with the SAME Steam / Funcom account you used before — your survivor and progress download from the server automatically.
- Select the same server/world you played on; your character, base and stored items are restored server-side.
- (Optional) To carry over local settings and screenshots, copy %LOCALAPPDATA%\DuneSandbox\Saved and %USERPROFILE%\Documents\DuneAwakening from the old PC.
- There is nothing else to transfer — the game state is not stored in a local save file you can copy.
Does cloud sync move it for you?
Dune: Awakening is server-authoritative: your progress is saved on Funcom's servers, not in a local save file. There is no local save to move — reinstalling and logging in restores everything. The local DuneSandbox folder holds only settings and cached client data.
Common mistakes
- Trying to copy the DuneSandbox folder to move your character — it does not contain your progress; that lives on the server.
- Logging in with a different account or picking a different server and not seeing your survivor.
